LOVE RUN Milestones

  • The “Senior Stroll” was first held in 1991 (Later called the Love Run”.) Participants walked and strolled from the Human Services Center (now Community Conscience) to the original site of Senior Concerns the old “Fitzgerald House.” The GTE Telephone Pioneers gave Senior Concerns’ a check from $1,000.  Wheelchairs, runners, walkers and strollers were welcome.  It was held on a Sunday afternoon.  A second “Senior Stroll” was conducted in 1992.
  • In 1993, as a tribute to his late father-in-law, a former CBS executive who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, Senior Concerns’ board member Ron Goldman proposed the new race and called it the Love Run. The first year saw 200 runners. 
  • We have raised over $1.25 Million from Love Run in 25 years.
  • Over 20,000 runners have participated in the past 25 years.
  • Over that time, we have had over 3,000 volunteers help with the race.
  • Love Run 5k and 10k in were added in 1993
  • Training Program was introduced in 2015
  • Beer Garden added to our Expo in 2015 
  • Inaugural Love-Hate Half Marathon in 2016 and had 157 runners
